La Fenice: The Provence You've Always Dreamt Of

La Fenice drone

It's in the air, and in the light.

That's what they say about the South of France, and they're right. Our villa is in a tiny hamlet on a hillside, called Montjustin. It has wide open views every way you look, expanding the heart and the soul. It's a countryside full of beauty all year round, with clear air and a calmness you're likely hard pressed to find in daily life.

La Fenice entrance

La Fenice is a typical Provençal house, with thick stone walls surrounded by trees, flowers and the beautiful lavender the area is known for. It is our rustic, comfortable second home, so we make sure it has everything we - and you - need for both long and short stays.

With a fully equipped kitchen, the villa sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The pool is heated for year round use and our boules court is yours to challenge anyone to a game at anytime.

Our Corner of Provence

Provence

La Fenice is situated in the Luberon, known as the heart of Provence. Famous for its lavender fields, country markets, incredible views and the light that inspired Van Gogh and Cézanne, it's guaranteed to take your breath away.

We're about an hour from Aix en Provence, 1.5 hours from Avignon, 2 hours from Arles, and 1.15 from Marseille airport. It's the perfect base to explore.

Montjustin

Montjustin village

Montjustin is a small village with a few dozen houses strewn around the mountain on which it stands. It has historically been a village of artists, with one very famous resident, Henri Cartier-Bresson. One of the most famous photographers of the 20th century, he worked with Picasso, among many others. Cartier-Bresson is buried in Monjustin's small cemetery.

A couple of minutes walk from our house you will find the ruins of an old church, a perfect place to watch the sunset over the valley. A couple of minutes in the other direction and you'll find the remains of the old village fortification, a perfect place to watch the sunrise.

Play, Lounge, Enjoy

Pool

La Fenice has an expansive yard, a pool, and a boules court, with plenty of areas to run around, lounge, eat by the pool, or watch the sunset on the upstairs terrace. It's perfect both as a base to explore the area as well as to spend quality time together in and around the house.

"What an incredible gem! Private, beautiful, welcoming, peaceful and surrounded by a wonderful little town snugged into a gorgeous landscape. The home is full of everything you’ll need and the owners and caretaker are a delight to work with! Truly an exceptional spot"
